Original black cloth with gilt paper labels, lettered in black to the front panel and spine. 8vo - 244pp. There is a small hole to page 49 at the bottom of the page - a possible publishing flaw - not imacting any text. First edition, first printing with the Scribner "A' and seal both present to the copyright page. The other points are met as well with the list of bookslisted on p. [iv] and missing the "t" in "two hundred twenty-five pounds" found on page 159. With a very bright example of the first state dust jacket with the required blurb from "Death In The Afternoon" on the rear panel. The spine ends are slightly bumped. There is a previous bookseller's notation in pencil to the front free endpaper. The complete jacket shows some minor rubbing along the bottom edge. The original $2.00 price is present on the flap. A very lovely copy of this imortant collection of fourteen short stories and containing one of my personal favorites 'After the Storm.' Hanneman, A 12 a.
