A very clean, bright and solid copy of this very important first hand historic account of the final campaign of the Army of the Potomac as events swept them to the dramatic conclusion at Appomattox Courthouse, and finally concluding with Major-General Chamberlain learning of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Illustrated with "Maps and Portraits." This copy with the extremely rare dust jacket. There is some small loss to the jacket at the head of the spine and a few very minor instances of edge-wear. A really sharp copy of a very important historic account of the bloody resolution of the Civil War from someone who witnessed it all.
