One plate, a large Hogarth facsimile of The Laughing Audience is folded at the hinge and occupies both pages. There is some very minor occasional spotting and offsetting from the plates. Bound now in contemporary red straight-grained morocco by Riviere and Sons. Top edges gilt. All volumes have a gilt floral design to the corners and are lettered in gilt to the spine. John Forster was a friend of Dickens and following Dickens' death received several of his manuscripts. An exceptionally beautiful set, and one of a kind.
