New York: The Dodge Publishing Company, (1937). First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine / Near Fine. Original blue cloth, lettered in orange to the front panel and spine. 8 vo - 254 pp. The book is very clean and bright and appears, at least to my eyes, as unread. The complete and bright dust jacket, drawn by Crary, is really compelling. More a futuristic war novel than a mystery with Washington, D.C. in the bulls-eye. There is some eerie foreshadowing of the upcoming attack on Pearl Harbor, still four years ahead. In many ways a very prescient novel. He also imagines drone technology in an eerily accurate way. A clear fore-runner for both Ian Fleming and Tom Clancy.
