The House Of Black Magic

London: F. V. White & Company, 1912. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine / Near Fine. Original black cloth, lettered in gold to the front panel and spine. In a complete dust jacket. There is some offsetting to the front and rear free endpapers due to the dust jacket flaps. That the jacket exists at all is a minor miracle. Some tape shadow showing through along the top edge from a much earlier mis-guided attempt at strengthening the verso of the jacket. The author's full professional name is Lillie Thomas Meade, which is the pseudonym for her married adult name of Elizabeth Thomasina Meade Smith. She was an enormously prolific author, writing childrens books as well as mysteries. Listed in Hubin. Meade and this title are mentioned by Quayle in The Collector's Book of Detective Fiction.
