Illustrated throughout with many full page engraved plates, all with tissue guards, including the frontispiece, and dozens of in-text illustrations. This volume is extremely clean, bright and solid. It is so common with book of this size to see damage at the hinges. This volume has no damage and is in remarkable condition. This volume comes from the collection of acclaimed aviator, sailor, and adventurer, Steve Fossett. After his untimely death in 2007, his vast collection of travel and exploration books was placed at auction. This volume has Steve Fossett's book-plate on the front free endpaper.
