With eight full page illustrations by W. S. Stacey with two maps. There is a very faint and sloppy, almost childish, gift inscription on a front blank, dated, I believe, 3/4/97. Slight mark on the front paste-down possibly indicating the removal of a book-plate. Evidence of erasure to a front blank. With 32 pp of ads to the rear which, according to Dartt, makes this the earlier of the Scribner issuings. Some minor scuffing to the edges. The Scribner and Welford publications are among the rarest in the Henty canon and highly desirable as such. A very nice copy. Dartt, p. 30, 1971 ed.
