These Are Our Lives

Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 1939. Second printing. Hardcover. Fine / Near Fine. Original light brown cloth lettered in dark brown. Octavo, xx, 421pp. As Told By The People And Written By Members Of The Federal Writers' Project Of The Works Progress Administration In North Carolina, Tennessee, And Georgia. A clean and solid copy copy. This volume is a collection of 35 life histories of black and white laborers collected by WPA interviewers and edited by W. T. Crouch. His opening essay is very thoughtful and moving. Identical in every way to the first printing save for the notice on the copyright page of the "Second printing, June 1939" statement. The first was issued one month earlier. A very nice copy of an important FWP volume. The complete and lovely dust jacket is present and happily, constructed of a much improved paper than the first printing. One chip at the top left corner of the front panel, as it meets the spine. The jacket also states "Second Printing." Scharf & Schoyer, # 721.
