Hands That Built New Hampshire. The Story Of Granite State Craftsmen Past And Present

Brattleboro: Stephen Daye Press, (1940). First edition. Hardcover. Very Good / Near Fine. Original pale green cloth on boards, stamped in gilt to the front panel and lettered in gilt to the spine. Large octavo, xii, 288pp. Compiled by Workers of the Writers' Program of the Work Projects Administration in the State of New Hampshire. Sponsored by His Excellency, Francis P. Murphy, Governor of New Hampshire, and the Honorable Council, Sponsors of the New Hampshire Writers' Project. A very solid and bright copy. With one caveat! This book was sealed up on a box in 1969 and was not opened until I did so in the Fall of 2017. The books and jackets were stored separately. A mouse did manage to eat through the bottom of one box and nibble on a few books. This is one of them. There is a tiny bit of loss to the bottom right corner of the front panel. However, since the jacket was not on the book at that time it remains very nice indeed, and, when on the book, everything looks quite lovely. Ilustrated throughout with photographs. Dykes, # 187.
