The Seminole Indians In Florida

Tallahassee: The Florida State Department of Agriculture, (1941). First edition. Soft Cover. Near Fine. Original illustrated wrappers. The volume is stapled yet has a flat spine. 87pp. Illustrated with black and white photographs and a large fold-out color map of the Everglades is attached to the rear interior cover. This is a very clean, bright and solid copy. Compiled by Workers of the Writers' Program of the Work Projects Administration in the State of Florida. Special mention is made of the contributions of Mary H. Sheppy and Barbara B. Darsay, members of the Florida Writers' Staff. Powell, #212 states (1941) and this remains my only source. This is likely correct, based on the fact that the interior date of 1940 comes from the Introduction by Ethel Cutler Freeman, and it is dated November, 1940. This is the only date present within this book So, an introduction in November of 1940 makes a publication date of 1941 seem likely. Dykes, Brewer, Scharf & Schoyer are silent. Still, an extremely nice copy of a very scarce WPA item.
