London: F. C. And J. Rivington; T. Payne; Wilkie And Robinson; Longman, Hurst, Rees Orme, And Brown; Cadell And Davies; J. Murray; R. H. Evans; J. Mawman; And R. Baldwin, 1812. First edition thus. Hardcover. Very Good. Two very large quarto volumes, bound in smooth morocco. Reprinted from Pynson's Edition of 1523, and 1525, with the names of places and persons carefully corrected. This is a specially bound edition with lovely engraved and hand colored illustrations throughout. There are a total of 23 full page inserted engravings. The frontis is signed "Vertue." The remainder are signed by J. Harris. The few without signatures or reversed signatures certainly look to be by Harris. The Vertue engraving titled, "Froissart presenting his book of Poems to King Richard the second" is dated 1803. It is the only dated engraving present. The volumes had suffered from separated boards. They have now been beautifully repaired. There is some staining and scuffing to the boards but the books remains beautiful, strong, and absolutely unique. All edges marbled.
