The Yearling

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1939. First Limited Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. Original torquoise cloth on boards. Signed on the limitation page by both Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and N.C. Wyeth. Housed in a slip-case and wrap-around cloth covered cardboard protector. The slip-case has been replaced with an identical colored but much stronger slip-case. The protector has also been re-covered but retaining the orignal spine label. From an edition of seven hundred and seventy copies of which seven hundred and Fifty were for sale. These volumes were un-numbered. With the extra facsimile letter from Wyeth to Charlie Chaplin and the two extra illustrations. Two previous owner book-plates present - one detached and leaving a small rectangular frame of discoloration and the other still attached. Both of these are on blank free endpapers. With a brief hand written note from Rawlings on her personal stationery laid in. Top edge gilt. A very nice copy in all respects.

Price: $2,400.00
