The Tomb of Tut-Ankh-Amen. Discovered by The Late Earl Of Carnarvon & Howard Carter

London: Cassell, 1923-1927-1933. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine / near fine. All three volumes complete and first editions. Volume one by Carter and Mace. Volumes two and three by Howard Carter alone. Original brown cloth with gilt scarab in the center of the front panel with black background. All letters in gilt. Decorated endpapers. Volume One with105 illustrations, Volume Two with 153 illustrations and Volume Three with 156 illustrations. These illustrations are in fact photographs by Harry Burton of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. These volumes come with complete dust jackets. All three jackets have received some restoration. The jackets of Volumes One and Two had tape removed from the reverse and the restoration is quite minor. The jacket on Volume Three received more substantial restoration along the top edge. All three jackets now look extremely clean and bright. The background is all white with lettering in black and illustrations in black, sepia and shades of gray. A finer looking set of true firsts is not likely to be found. All three books are housed in a custom built slip-case with handsome labels affixed. A remarkable set.
