London: Smith Elder & Co., 1887. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Original terra cotta cloth, lettered in gilt to the spine. Original pale green endpapers. With a lovely example of the book-plate of Harry (Henry) Buxton Forman to the front paste-down. The book-plate features an image of Forman seated at a desk with a bust of Shelley looking on. Forman is (in)famous for editing works of Shelley and Keats, and engaging in one of the more sensational forgery rings in modern history. The edges show some scuffing and there is evidence of some repair to an interior hinge. The book remains bright and solid.
